Patient Letter By Dr. Adams November 16, 2016
You should have recently received a letter from Dr. Chris Rafoth with the news that he is moving on from Cascadia Dentistry. As I have been part of the Cascadia Dentistry team for going on two months now, I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself to our patients that I have not yet had the chance to meet. I am from Olympia originally and got an early start in dentistry assisting my father, a dentist practicing in the Olympia area. Before I considered dentistry, I attended Western Washington University and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, Economics and Political Science. After graduating, I accepted a position with Fisher Investments, an investment management firm located in the San Francisco Bay Area, and worked in the financial field for several years. I decided to pursue my Doctorate in Dental Surgery so that I could find a better balance between my creative and scientific interests. I received my degree from New York University’s College of Dentistry in New York City, where I had the opportunity to learn from some of the most distinguished educators in dentistry.
I am very pleased to return to the Pacific Northwest to serve a friendly, welcoming community similar to the one I grew up in. My wife, Jill, is from Arlington originally and we have been together for ten years. In 2015, we welcomed our son, Liam. He is a happy, busy kid who brings us so much joy. My family and I like to spend time on Center Island in the San Juan Islands throughout the year, and we also enjoy camping, hiking, skiing and finding new ways to show our son why Washington is such an amazing place to live. In addition to dentistry, my interests include computer programming, graphic design, painting and drawing, gardening and home projects.
I look forward to getting to know you all better over the coming months and years. Although Dr. Rafoth will be moving on, the Cascadia team will remain the same and the familiar faces you’ve become accustomed to seeing will still be here to greet you and help to care for your dental needs. We are all committed to providing you and your family with the highest quality dental care in a professional and friendly environment.
If you would like to help us say goodbye to Dr. Rafoth and meet my family and I, please join us at our Open House on Thursday, December 8th at 5:30pm. We hope to see you there.
Sincerely,
David Adams, D.D.S.
Patient Letter By Dr. Rafoth October 5, 2016
Someone recently told me that dentists are “gadgeteers.” I admit that’s a part of who I am. I love solving puzzles with really cool equipment and instruments; I’m a bit of a tooth engineer. But I think I’m more of a social creature. I never knew the full joy of dentistry until I figured out that I love what people and their stories bring to my life every workday. Throughout the years, I have learned so much about my team and you. It has been the most satisfying part of my career, because your lives have helped shape what I recommend and what I accomplish as your dentist. I appreciate the trust you have given me. And I’ve been grateful for the opportunity to learn about your lives.
My life’s next chapter has arrived. I’ve recently struggled with an injury from a car accident that has pushed me to reevaluate my work life. This experience helped me appreciate how I can be a more active part of life with Mondie, August, and Vivienne. And I’m going to start teaching implant dentistry to other doctors. I am fortunate that I have been able to work with such an accomplished team that has shared so much with you and our patients. Although I’m moving on, the team will stay and continue to grow and support all of you. And I’m pleased to announce we’ve found another great dentist to join the team, as I pursue a better work-life balance.
David Adams is an accomplished dentist from Olympia, WA who brings valuable experience in comprehensive and cutting-edge dentistry. Dr. Adams is a graduate of the acclaimed NYU College of Dentistry and shares many of my dental philosophies and goals. He is someone that I am comfortable recommending to you, my dental family. Along with his wife, Jill, and their young boy, Liam, Dr. Adams looks forward to living close to their family in Arlington, and he is committed to being a part of the Stanwood-Camano community.
I’ll be in the practice for the short term to introduce you all and support Dr. Adams with the transition. I’m also available to help you and our patients complete their current phases of care. I’m not disappearing entirely–our family still calls Camano Island home during part of the year. I hope I might share time with you in ways that go beyond the dental chair.
Best in life,
Chris Rafoth, DDS
